I am forwarding you an email from Cara Dibble, written on behalf of the College’s Diaspora Committee for which I am the honorary Secretary. The email and the letter from Dr Subodh Dave, Associate Dean RCPsych with special remit for Trainee Support and improving the training experience for IMGs. is self explanatory. This is an important initiative and we are looking for mentors for trainees in each Deanery across the UK.
Please let me know by Friday 19 June, if you are interested and are able to help with this project to improve the performance and examination results of overseas trainees in the UK

Following up from the last Diaspora meeting I ask that you all take the time to read theLetter-to-Diaspora-group.pdffrom Dr Subodh Dave. To assist in getting this Mentoring program up and running Dr Subodh Dave requires a Mentoring Lead from each Deanery. Please take some time to consider your membership list, speak to those who you think would be suitable for the role and, with that person’s permission, forward their name (more names are fine too) and contact details to subodh.dave@gmail.com before close of business on June 19th .
It is not anticipated that the Lead will be mentoring trainees themselves but this will be a higher-level role of facilitating the setting up of a Deanery-wide mentorship scheme with the support of the College Division and the School of Psychiatry.
We require at least one name from each of the following:
- Health Education East Midlands
- Health Education East of England
- Health Education Yorkshire and the Humber
- Health Education Wessex
- Health Education Thames Valley
- Health Education North West London
- Health Education South London
- Health Education North Central and East London
- Health Education Kent, Surrey and Sussex
