Chair’s message

Dear friends Assalam-o-alikum

On behalf of the executive team, I would like to thank all those who attended the conference over the weekend and those who could not make it but conveyed their best wishes. The feedback has been great so far; the academic program was excellent, food was different and good and delegates were mesmerised by the versatile Rafaqat Ali khan, leading some of us to loosen our hair and dance into the night.

This was all possible because of your support and the hard work of the few who worked tirelessly, behind the scenes. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr Anjum Bashir for chairing the scientific committee, and it members, Drs Asif Zia, Khurram Lodhi, Amina Tareen, Amer Mukhtar, and Prof. Tanveer Rana, for pulling it together, Chairs and co-chairs of various sessions, Drs Rummana Khan and Shahid Latif for facilitating the lunch at the More restaurant and Dr Fowad Chaudry for organising another fantastic social evening while at the same time managing the demands of our lastminute.com delegates, looking to register and/or book rooms, after the closing date!! .

Special thanks to Omar Ahmad, Saad Ahmad, Sehar Ahmad, Hassan Shahid Ahmad and Riyan Durrani for managing the registration desk amicably and putting up with unreasonable expectations and rude behaviour of a handful of delegates. I appreciate and acknowledge the on-going support and advise of our past chairs, Akmal Makhdum and Hasan Jawaid and above all, a big thank you to our spouses who put up with us over the last few weeks, whilst we finalised the program.

I have put some of the conference pictures on the website and others will follow. I will also forward, in a separate email, a request from Dr Musa Sami to complete the conference feedback form, on-line, if you did not do so at the conference.

In the end I would like to warmly welcome into the executive committee Dr Sobia Khan, as our new secretary, and Dr Sami Musa as our treasurer for 2014-2015. They were both unanimously co-opted at the AGM for the next one year, when the new executive team elect will take over.

Kind regards

Mateen
