Asad is a graduate of Rawalpindi Medical University. He completed his basic and higher specialist training in East Midlands and took up a consultant post at the Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in 2012. Along with his clinical role, Asad remains actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate training as a Consultant clinical educator, Educational supervisor, and RCPsych CASC examiner.
Asad was appointed Clinical subdean and Clinical associate professor at the School of Medicine, University of Nottingham, in 2023. He has been an Executive member of the RCPsych Trent Division (2018-21) and has been a member of the RCPsych Education and Training Committee (ETC) since 2021 and is the CPD co-lead for the RCPsych Trent Division.
In 2019, he was awarded a fellowship at the Royal College of Psychiatrists. He is passionate about promoting excellence in medical education and training and has organized various undergraduate and postgraduate educational and professional development events. Asad has been the CPD lead for the British Pakistani Psychiatrists Association (BPPA) since 2022.
