Throughout his extensive career, he has significantly contributed to the development of addiction services in both England and the UAE, as well as to academia and the global awareness of mental health and addiction issues.

He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at various national and international scientific conferences worldwide, including the UK, Europe, the USA, UAE, KSA, Qatar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Pakistan. Additionally, Dr. Abbasi has written for major British newspapers and has been interviewed, quoted, and featured by numerous media outlets globally, including the BBC, ITV, The Independent, The Guardian, and The Times (USA).

In 2016, Dr. Abbasi established the Painkiller Addiction Information Network (PAIN), which was the only charity in the UK at that time focused on raising awareness about painkiller addiction.
