Saadia Muzaffar


Dr. Saadia Muzaffar is a consultant general adult psychiatrist. She trained in Exeter and obtained her Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) from the Royal College of Psychiatrists in the UK in 2013. She earned her primary medical undergraduate degree from Rawalpindi Medical College in Pakistan.

Dr. Muzaffar has extensive experience in various psychotherapy modalities, including Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), group analysis, and psychodynamic psychotherapy. She also runs Balint groups for psychiatric trainees and has pursued further training in cognitive analytic therapy, as she believes in taking a holistic approach to addressing individuals' difficulties.

In addition to her clinical work, she serves as the Associate Registrar for Wellbeing at the Royal College of Psychiatrists and is a CASC examiner for the same institution. Dr. Muzaffar has also been an educational and clinical supervisor for General Practice and Core Psychiatric trainees in the Wessex Deanery.

She is the International Medical Graduate (IMG) champion for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Trust and has established and chaired the Medical Advisory Committee. Additionally, Dr. Muzaffar is an executive member of the British Psychotherapy Foundation (BPF) and co-authored a book chapter on "Psychotherapies for Psychosis in Low and Middle-Income Countries." 

She has delivered lectures on borderline personality disorder at local workshops and internationally. Her current interests include medical ethics, transcultural psychiatry, the well-being of doctors, recovery-focused service-user care, mental health issues affecting women and BAME communities, and the impact of childhood attachments on adult mental health, as well as trauma and abuse.
